THE NFL LOWDOWN WEEK #7 2011

I am going to change things up this week and focus on a topic that just will not go away. I am going to talk about the cat fight, power struggle, inconsistency, he said she said, finger pointing or whatever you want to insert in the blank between CAM CAMERON and JOE FLACCO. There is an overwhelming belief that CAMERON is holding back FLACCO, because he is a control freak and he doesn't know what he is doing. Because the fans here in Baltimore are starving for a QB of any kind to take them to the Super Bowl, they are not aware of FLACCO'S many short comings. Therefore it must be CAM'S fault. Do you remember the San Diego Chargers during the 2002-2006 years. As the Charger's Offensive Coordinator in 2004 CAM won Offensive Assistant of the Year and the Chargers scored the 3rd most points in the NFL that year (446 pts). In 2005 the Chargers were 5th in the league in scoring at 26.1 pts a game. In 2006 the Chargers amassed a team record 494 pts while paving the way for league MVP LADAINIAN TOMLINSON to break the single season TD. record. During his time in San Diego CAM worked with PHILLIP RIVERS, DREW BREES, LT and ANTONIO GATES. In other words Cam knows what he is doing, because he ran a prolific top 5 offense anually with two different QB during his time with the Chargers. Fast forward to the Ravens under FLACCO and CAM. In 08 the Ravens were 4th in rushing (148 ypg), 1st in time of possession, and 11th in points (24.1 ppg).In 2009, the Ravens were 9th in scoring (24.4 ppg),while setting team records for most total TDs (47) and most rushing TDs (22). In 2010 FLACCO posted career highs in passing yds (3,622) and passing TDs (25) while leading the Ravens to  22.3 ppg. What I see here is CAM is giving FLACCO more and more responsibility, but the offensive productivity is going the other way. The yds are going up, but ppg are going down. Don't you think CAM wants FLACCO to succeed. He wants FLACCO to take command of the offense and lead the team, but not if it costs them games in the process. The one thing no one ever takes in account is the fact that no matter who runs the offense the results remain the same. The Ravens have always been a run first play defense type of team and it shows in their comments win they lose. After the loss to the Jags everyone was complaining about the running game. Yet when they blew out the Rams everyone wanted to throw , throw throw. To me and I am just an outsider CAM is following the organizations wishes with the offense he is running and FLACCO'S limited abilities handcuff him when he is calling a game. In San Diego the offense he ran was prolific because of Brees and then Rivers. FLACCO LACK OF LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND PLAY UNDER PRESSURE makes it look like CAM is being conservative. Excellent play calling is driven by one thing execution. Doesn't matter if he calls a run or pass CAM is second guessed, because of FLACCO'S limitations. Give Cam the weapons he needs and a QB to run his system and the Ravens are a Superbowl team. If you look at everything objectively CAM is in a can't win situation and I have not heard from any of the Raven's brass. Any coordinator who wants to succeed would love to have players who know and embrace their system, but know how to make plays outside of the system when the time calls for it. If FLACCO feels handcuffed change the play or call audibles. At the end of the day he is the one looking at coverages and facing blitzes head on. FLACCO to means seems passive and unwilling to take the reighns. If during the two minute drill plays are not coming in fast enough he should show a sense of urgency by his body language or hand gestures. It seems to me that CAM is protecting FLACCO from FLACCO and until FLACCO grows up and accepts the challenge of leading the Ravens critics will always blame CAM. The next thing you know CAM is made into a scapegoat and goes on to another and picks up where he left off with the Chargers. Meanwhile another coordinator comes into Baltimore with fanfare runs the football, promises a wide open attack and falls victim to the FLACCO effect. Now onto the LOWDOWN.

  • IGROMO'S THOUGHTS
  • My boy Brad Piff brought up a good point last night and it got me to thinking. The NBA would be a better product if the head coach's had money, power, and respect like their NFL companions. That being said there is a widespread case of losing and blaming it on the game plans. I don't know if organizations haven't figured out how to deal with it yet, but when a member of the winlessTebowHarbaugh came in and scaled down the plays and put an emphasis on execution and at 5-1  he has opposing coaches wanting to fight after catching ass whippings. All I am saying is execute the play and give credit where credit is due when a team steps up and beats you. Stop blaming coordinators for the shortcomings and mistakes that are committed on the field. Name me the Pats O coordinator. I'm still waiting. That's what I thought. The players like Brady, Brees and Manning get credit for success and coordinators get the blame when Romo, Flacco or Cutler fuck up. Just a thought.
  • BUFFOON OF THE WEEK:
    • jordan crawford of the Wizards said and I quote I CAN BE BETTER THAN MICHAEL JORDAN. I'm not really going to spend a lot of time on this buffoon because it is obvious he has been effected by lead paint or too much glue sniffing. Outside of your mother believing in you where the fuck does your delusional thought process come from. Really I should be asking who the fuck are you and when were you drafted. After doing a little research I found out that you were related to Harold Miner and J R Rider and you want to carry on their legacy, so that explains your fucked up mentality. You inherited those dumb ass genes that make millionaires want to use stolen pre paid cell phones, because they love keeping it real.  I have a bit of advice for you put down that glass dick it is not a good look and save your money because if you keep making comments like that you won't be in the league too long. Just because your name is Jordan don't mean you play like one. Don't let Mike hear this shit.HE WILL TRAIN, COME OUT OF RETIREMENT AND BUST YOUR ASS WITH JUMPERS AT THE AGE OF 60. I would hate for you to be on a Jordan commercial for LOOK WHAT HE MADE DO.
  • I'm out like the Texas Rangers.
