THE NFL LOWDOWN WEEK#9

For those of you who have been following me for years  know I can't stand being right all of the time, because it is a heavy burden to carry. Being the informative voice of sports knowledge for the people is something I take great pride and responsibility in. I sometimes have to say things that I know are going to anger and shock the masses, but I have a civic duty to report the truth. Now is one of those times. Let me preface this by saying in know way am I trying to disrespect a legend and future Hall of Famer by the comments that you are about to read, but the truth is the truth. I said way back in week#1 that Eli was the real Manning and I said it in tongue and cheek, but his play over the first 8 weeks of the season has validated that comment. Not only is he playing at an MVP level, but without his top two receivers he is on pace to throw for 4,800 yards and 30 touchdowns. Early this year Eli called himself elite and put himself in the same sentence as Tom Brady. Instead of running away from the pressure of playing in New York city and being called the other Manning Eli embraces it. He is a glutton for punishment and I think he gets off on proving people wrong. I think growing up in the shadows of Peyton has prepared him for battle. There is nothing that you and I can say to him that he hasn't already heard or thought of that can rattle him. I said in My Top 10 QB List that if the name was Brady, Brees or Big Ben and they drove their team the way Eli did in the closing minutes of the Super Bowl against Brady and the undefeated Pats we would still be talking about their exploits. Eli said okay fuck it I will show you just who the real Manning really is by going into Foxsboro and stop the Pats 29 game home winning streak with another last minute drive for a TD. For the record Eli has as many rings as Peyton and guess what, I know and believe that he is more clutch than Peyton. Not better but more clutch. LeBron James was a better basketball player, but Robert Horry is more clutch.I hope that I am wrong, but I told everyone who pays attention that Eli and the Giants are built for winning  December and if there is anyone on paper who can take care of the Packers its the New York football Giants. Being a Dallas Cowboy fan I hope Eli and the Giants fail, but the journalist in me sees a different ending. Eli's career so far suggest he is elite and his maturation shows that he will only get better. I leave you with this tidbit. You can't spell ELITE without ELI. Now onto the LowDown.
  •  HIGH FIVE:
  • 1) PACKERS (8-0)- The Packers play that bend, but don't break defense. They never trail
  • 2) RAVENS (6-2)- I keep saying Flacco is the key to a SuperBowl run.
  • 3) GIANTS (6-2)- Eli+ running game+ pass rush = SuperBowl ?????????????
  • 4) 49ers (7-1)- My Cowboys beat them and Alex Smith just doesn't cut it for me
  • 5) STEELERS (5-3) Big Ben is still the equalizer
  • MVP WATCH:
  • 1) Aaron Rodgers- On pace to break Marino's yards record, QB rating of129, and 73% comp%
  • 2) Eli Manning- Eli locked up #2 by beating Brady at his own game in Foxboro
  • 3) Tom Brady- Even with back to back losses he is still the man I want as QB on my team.
  • 4) Drew Brees- Completing 70% of his passes and he is on pace to break Marino's record.
  • 5) Matt Forte- Should break the yards from scrimmage record this year.
  • DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:
  • 1) DeMarcus Ware- On pace to break Strahan's record
  • 2) Darelle Revis- The only lock down corner in the game
  • 3) Charles Woodson- The only bright spot on that bend but don't break defense
  • 4) Jared Allen - With 12.5 sacks only his team's record prevent him from being higher
  • 5) Terrell Suggs- Becoming a two way threat on the league's best defense
  • ROMEO'S THOUGHTS ON WEEK 9:
  • Does anyone including the Duke Blue Devils basketball team get more home calls than the Steelers? When the Ravens ripped off a 76 yard run on the opening drive of the game someone decided to hit the reset button on the PS3 and start the game over again. Holding my ass that pure unaldurated buuuuuulllllllshiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttttttttttt. NOW I KNOW WHY THOSE PARANOID ASS RAVENS FANS BELIEVE THERE IS A CONSPIRACY AGAINST THEIR TEAM!!!!!!!!!!
  • Stop dick riding Michael Vick and the Eagles. I enjoyed every minute of DaaaaaBears ssssss doing my bidding and beating the Eagles on Monday night.
  • After another 3INTS including two pick sixes when is everyone going to stop blaming Norv and put the blame where it goes on Rivers. If it was Romo throwing those picks he would be a trending topic on twitter.
  • In this new age of new jack football no lead is safe.
  • Cam Newton is 2-6 as a starter and receives praise for his efforts. Tim Tebow is 2-1 and all he gets is you can't play taunts and Tebowing from the other team. What is more important wins and losses or stats?
  • Jerry Jones went on record as saying DeMarco Murray's play reminds him of Eric Dickerson really HOF Eric Dickerson. You know that based off of three games and some practice time. This is why Dallas Cowboy players have an over inflated sense of self worth. Their owner pumps them up more than their agent, publicist, or mother ever could. Keep Jerry Jones away from an open mic. BUUFFFFOOOOONNNN
  • Jason Garrett should hire an offensive coordinator, because his handling of that star studded offense in Dallas is laughable.
  • Is Cam Cameron a genius all of a sudden after the Ravens defeated the Steelers Monday Night. No it goes back to what I have said all along. Players make plays and they decide the outcome of games not coaches. It's not Dick Lebeau's fault that Ryan Clark took a bad angle on the game winning touchdown play. Are the balls that Smith and Bouldin dropped on Sunday night Cam's fault? What about the 76 yard touchdown that Ray Rice had called back because of holding.
  • In just 3 starts DeMarco Murray has rushed for more yards this year than Rice, Benson,Johnson and Mendenhall. Not bad.
  • I read somewhere that the Vikings passed on Aaron Rodgers twice in the first round of the draft by taking Troy Willamson and Erasmus James. This is moronic, ingrejus, buffoonic and irreponhensible that this miscourage of justice could happen. The man who presided over that draft should have been fired and forced to make out with Gabourey Sidibe aka Precious.
  • The only knock I have on Aaron Rodgers is I don't know when faced with  a crisis how he would handle it. Because the Packers normally lead from start to finish he hasn't had to play come from behind football in the 4th quarter.
  • All the Colts have to do is continue playing gutless, heartless uninspired football and Luck is theirs.
  • Was I the only one who laughed when Jalen Rose little brother Heinz Ward got hit so hard in the head that he kept reaching for his ankle like that's what was keeping him from knowing what day of the week it was. He looked like a drunk ass bride being escorted by two men down the isle. Priceless
  • Bill Bellicheck is the perfect example of what happens when you are allowed to buy the groceries and do the cooking. He know longer has the men in the building who could stand up to him and challenge him on things. Bellicheck right now reminds me of Mike Tyson when Cus D'Amato died and he lost Kevin Rooney and Teddy Atlas. Don King took over and surrounded Tyson with yes men and buffoons and Iron Mike got knocked the fuck out and he has not been the same since. All the great ones need to be challenged and called out when they are wrong, not be told how great they are 24/7. Until the Pats get a true personnel guru in there that doesn't fear standing up to Bellicheck the Pats may never win another playoff game, despite the brilliance of Tom Brady. Bill Bellicheck great strategist. Terrible GM.
  • If you guys have any ideas for the new name for buffoon of the week let me know, because Jerry Jones retired the old name and a new one is needed.
  • Coming up on the next LOWDOWN I am going to comment on the debate between Kordell and Skip about Tebow.
