Ranking The Top 10 Players In The NBA Of My Era

  • Ranking the TOP 10 players of my era came about after I read THE SLAM 500 GREATEST PLAYERS OF ALL TIME issue. I'm not even  going to go into the fact that they listed Shaq over Kareem and Kobe that is buffoonery at its highest apex, but they really got me thinking about how players should be judged and ranked by categories. I devised a formula in which I ranked these 10 players based on a variety of skills on a scale of 1-10 with the best player receiving the highest ranking. For example 1 means your the best and 10 means your the worst in each category. It is still a work in progress but I wanted to present my findings to you all and one last thing if you didn't win a championship you didn't get any consideration.
  • Here is the list of criteria that I used to determine the rankings for each player: LEADERSHIP,TEAM PERFORMANCE IN THE PLAYOFFS,INDIVIDUAL PLAYOFF PERFORMANCE,CRUNCH TIME,SKILL LEVEL,INDIVIDUAL ACCOLADES,TRUE SHOOTING PERFORMANCE,DEFENSIVE PRESENCE,PLAYGROUND ATTRACTION, and STAR POWER
  • 10TH. THE ADMIRAL DAVID ROBINSON WITH A SCORE OF 77. A gentleman on and off the court The Admiral was a combination of size ,strength ,and quickness that the NBA had never seen before.
  • 9TH. ZEEK ISIAH THOMAS WITH A SCORE OF 69. I have always said that if Isiah was 5 inches taller he would have been top 5 all time with the things he could do with the basketball. Think Allen Iverson with more intelligence, leadership, and respect for the game. You want to know how good ZEEK was check out game 6 of the 89 finals against the Lakers.
  • 8TH. THE DADDY SHAQUILLE THE REAL DEAL O'NEAL WITH A SCORE OF 67.One of the greatest players ever Shaq could have been the best if ego and off season workout neglect had been handled better. Shaq and Kobe are the best duo in the history of the game. There I said it. If you want to argue about don't sing it bring it.
  • 7TH. THE BIG FUNDAMENTALS TIM DUNCAN WITH A SCORE OF 63. Outside of Hakeem Tim is the only man that I have ever seen dominate Shaq in his prime.
  • 5TH. HAKEEM THE DREAM OLAJUWON WITH A SCORE OF 60. Dream dominated every center he faced with his patented DREAM SHAKE and his now you see it now you don't move. Shaq and The Admiral are still having nightmares about guarding The Dream.
  • 5TH. LARRY BIRD WITH A SCORE OF 60. Bird had it all inside and outside and I can honestly say that their will never ever be another LARRY LEGEND.
  • 4TH KAREEM ABDUL JABARR WITH A SCORE OF 49. Possibly the greatest player to ever play the game. The dunk was banned because of him. Enough said.
  • 3rd BLACK MAMBA KOBE BRYANT WITH A SCORE OF 33. With his career still going he could possibly become #1. Just think of how you would view this man if their was no Michael. Who is the next Kobe Bryant? Kevin Durant just perhaps.
  • 2nd EARVIN MAGIC JOHNSON WITH A SCORE OF 30. 8 Finals appearances in 10 years. The ultimate teammate, leader and the orchestrater of SHOWTIME. Once played all 5 positions in his rookie year in the finals. Tell LeBron to try that shit..
  • 1st MICHAEL AIR JORDAN WITH A SCORE OF 21. If you look up a picture in the dictionary of what the perfect basketball player would like there would probably be a picture of bald headed man with his tongue out dunking on Patrick Ewing. Michael Jordan is what every player who came after him aspires to be like. You can't be Magic, because you can't teach 6 foot 9 with perfect court vision. From his game winning shots to his gravity defying dunks MJ turned what was always viewed as a team game into his own personal playground. What if he didn't retire the first time we are talking about possibly 8 in a row? Try as they may Kobe and Lebron have a tough road ahead of them in trying to catch the goat. Don't even get me started on his shoes.........,.................
